Buildings and other structures are both a product and a process of architecture (from Latin “architecture” and Greek arkhitekton “architect”), which is both a process and a result of the planning, design, and construction of these structures. Building design and construction are two examples of architectural services that may be provided by an architectural firm. In contrast to some, others consider it as a separate school and subsequent evolution of expressionist architecture. A liberal arts education may help students comprehend the larger context in which architecture is born and practised and how it affects these broader contexts, if the purpose of professional architectural education is to allow students to actively engage in the world as an architect.
